About Mtech Construction And Management

This is the post-graduate programme in the discipline of Civil Engineering with Specialization in Construction Management under Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune. It has started this Academic Year 2019-20 with the Sanctioned intake of 18. After graduation in Civil Engineering, the students interested in higher studies prefer to get the admission to this course.
The Curriculum is prescribed by the SPPU and it is designed in such a way that it adds the technical value additions to the technical capabilities of the students to work as a Project Manager in the Construction filed and it also inculcates the research aptitude among the students.
In addition to the curriculum, Academic and Research environment of PCCOE flourish the overall personality of the students as well as faculty to succeed in their future endeavours to meet future challenges in the Infrastructural development of the society.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • To embed sound academic fundamentals among the students to formulate, analyze and solve Civil engineering problems
  • To develop student's ability to adopt and build up recent trends in Civil engineering
  • To prepare students for the challenging needs of engineering profession and higher academic pursuits
  • To develop an ability to relate multidisciplinary Civil engineering issues to social and human context through moral, attitude and team spirit


Program Outcomes

Civil Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics. Science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex civil engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering geology.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex civil engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods-including design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of data and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex Civil engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal issues like water management, waste management, air & amp; water pollution, health, safety, legal and cultural issues, and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

  • Graduates in civil Engineering will demonstrate proficiency in practical applications for quality construction work in the domain of Structural Engineering, Water Resources-Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical-Transport and Construction Management.
  • A graduate in Civil Engineering, equipped with the necessary skills and technical knowledge, can become an entrepreneur in the field, capable of identifying business opportunities, developing business plans, managing resources, designing and executing sustainable construction projects for infrastructural development.
